Galaxy’s Edge takes place on a newly created planet called
Batuu, not one of the familiar planets from movies, and that was a very
specific decision. “We know those places,” Scott Trowbridge, the
portfolio creative executive of Walt Disney Imagineering, said of the
traditional Star Wars planets. “We know the stories that
happened there and we know we’re not in them. This place, Black Spire
Outpost, is designed to be a place that invites exploration, discovery, a
place that invites us to become a character in the world of Star Wars.”
